ISO 14001 Certified Environmental Management

1. Purpose

At DSS, we're committed to protecting the environment and reducing our impact wherever we operate. This module helps all staff understand how their day-to-day actions contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future.

2. Our Commitment

Sustainable Office

DSS is certified under ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and follows clear procedures to:

Minimise waste and resource use
Prevent pollution
Use energy and materials efficiently
Promote environmental awareness

3. Everyone's Role

Every DSS team member has a part to play in protecting the environment:

Administration

  • Reduce paper use by working digitally wherever possible
  • Recycle office waste correctly (paper, plastics, batteries, toner cartridges)
  • Turn off lights, computers, and equipment when not in use
  • Use energy-efficient appliances and sustainable purchasing where possible

Security & Concierge

  • Report water leaks, broken lights, or faulty equipment promptly
  • Turn off unnecessary lighting in unoccupied areas
  • Encourage proper waste sorting for site users
  • Monitor and report environmental hazards (chemical spills, excessive waste)

Cleaning Teams

  • Use eco-friendly cleaning products approved by DSS
  • Use only the recommended amount of water and chemicals
  • Separate waste into recycling, general waste, and special disposal bins
  • Ensure chemicals are stored, handled, and disposed of according to Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Report waste mismanagement or environmental concerns to your supervisor

4. Key Environmental Actions

Waste Management

Sort waste correctly into recycling, general waste, and hazardous material bins. Never mix chemical or contaminated waste with regular rubbish.

Energy Conservation

Turn off lights and equipment when not in use. Use natural light where possible. Report faulty equipment or wasteful energy use.

Water Efficiency

Use water sparingly. Turn off taps when not in use. Report leaks immediately. Use recommended amounts when cleaning — avoid excessive water waste.

Chemical Safety

Use only DSS-approved eco-friendly products. Store chemicals safely according to SDS. Never pour chemicals down drains or mix incompatible substances.

5. Reporting & Accountability

If you see anything that could harm the environment, report it immediately:

Water leaks or excessive water use
Faulty equipment wasting energy
Chemical spills or improper disposal
Waste being sorted incorrectly

How to Report: Use the FieldServicer® app or contact your supervisor directly. All environmental concerns are taken seriously and investigated promptly.
